The site offered everything and asked everything in return — an exposed ridgeline with panoramic ocean views, seismic complexity underfoot, and a client who had lived in remarkable homes and found them all too loud. The opportunity was not to design a great building. It was to design a great experience: one where the architecture disappears and the landscape steps forward. That demanded a level of material honesty and spatial discipline rarely pursued in residential work at this scale. We accepted the challenge, stripped the programme to its bones, then rebuilt it detail by detail, with absolute intention.
The residence is composed of two distinct pavilions — a living wing oriented to the horizon and a sleeping wing turned inward toward the garden court. Linking them is a single glass-bridged axis that makes the transition between shelter and openness something you feel underfoot, not just observe. Materials were chosen for their silence: raw concrete with a brushed finish, wide-format travertine, and structural steel concealed within the slab line. Fenestration follows the path of the sun rather than conventional symmetry, ensuring that every principal room receives a distinct quality of light at each hour. Nothing announces itself. Everything earns its place.

Construction spanned 22 months across three phases. Deep caisson foundations addressed the seismic profile of the ridgeline site — all concealed within a plinth that gives the residence its characteristic hovering quality above the hillside. SKYCORE managed every trade from structural engineering to landscape integration, ensuring the gap between architectural vision and construction reality was never allowed to open. The result is a home with no seams between disciplines: the lighting strategy, the millwork detailing, and the hardscape all read as a single continuous thought rather than a collection of separate decisions. What was drawn is precisely what was built.
By resolving material and structural logic in the design phase, Meridian House avoided the costly revisions typical of complex residential builds. The design led; the construction followed without compromise.
SKYCORE's integrated design-build model eliminated the gap between architectural vision and execution. Every trade worked from a shared language — no translation errors, no competing agendas.
Homes designed around enduring material logic rather than trend consistently outperform their category at resale. Meridian House was designed to appreciate — architecturally and financially — over time.
